The Surety Underwriters Association of Southern California is an organization of surety companies, surety agents and other related businesses with an interest in corporate surety-ship in Southern California. Since 1928 the SUASC's purpose has been to:

- Educate and inform our members and the community about issues relating to corporate surety-ship.

- Monitor legislative/regulatory activity and where appropriate, take steps to influence its outcome.

- To promote an awareness and understanding of the benefits of corporate surety-ship. Continue to collaborate within our industry to ensure best practices.

2020 SUASC Board

Adriana Valenzuela, President

Adriana Valenzuela is a Surety Account Executive working at Lockton Insurance Brokers and has 23 years of Surety Industry experience. Adriana is a proud mother of three beautiful daughters.  In her spare time, she’s involved in her daughters School Student Council, Little League activities. She also enjoys playing Co-Ed Softball and loves to attend cultural and sporting events.

Leilani Evans, Vice President

Leilani Evans is the Construction Software Sales Associate at TAG. She has a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Evans works with contractors assisting them with support in bonding reporting, accounting systems and customizing data workflow. With 10 years of experience in software sales and support - her passion lies within teamwork between different departments of the client’s organization, as well as working in conjunction with other service providers in fostering the client’s success. She lives in Rancho Cucamonga with her two young daughters and enjoys event planning for her daughter’s school charity gala.

Alexess Nelson, Treasurer/Secretary

What's this item about Alexess Nelson joined the Zurich Surety team in 2017 as an Account Executive and handles commercial surety business for the Southern California region.  Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, she began her surety career with Travelers after graduating from the University of San Francisco in 2014 with a degree in finance.  Her interests include traveling, CrossFit, and volunteering with local animal rescue organizations.

Jonathan Ortiz, Committee Member

.Jonathan Ortiz is an Associate Underwriter for IFIC. He is a SoCal native and graduated from Cal State University, Fullerton in 2015 earning his BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. He possesses a banking background and joined IFIC in 2016. With aspiration to keep traveling, he wants to continue exploring major U.S. cities and travel internationally. During down time, Jonathan enjoys watching football and working out.

Steve has been in the Surety Industry for 5 years and works for IFIC Surety Group out of the Orange County Office. He began his career with IFIC in Philadelphia as an Intern in the claims department and later relocated to Southern California to continue his career in the Commercial Bond department.
