The Surety Underwriters Association of Southern California is an organization of surety companies, surety agents and other related businesses with an interest in corporate surety-ship in Southern California. Since 1928 the SUASC's purpose has been to:
- Educate and inform our members and the community about issues relating to corporate surety-ship.
- Monitor legislative/regulatory activity and where appropriate, take steps to influence its outcome.
- To promote an awareness and understanding of the benefits of corporate surety-ship. Continue to collaborate within our industry to ensure best practices.

Alexess Nelson, President
Zurich Commercial Surety
Alexess Nelson joined the Zurich Surety team in 2017 as an Account Executive and handles commercial surety business for the Southern California region. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, she began her surety career with Travelers after graduating from the University of San Francisco in 2014 with a degree in finance. Her interests include traveling, CrossFit, and volunteering with local animal rescue organizations.
Ethan Spector, Treasurer
Ethan Spector is account manager working at Lockton Insurance brokers and has three years of surety industry experience. You may recognize the name as his father, Edward, has been in the industry for 25+ years. Born and raised in Los Angeles, in his free time, Ethan spends his time at Dodger and King games, walking his two dachshund or at the driving range smashing balls to the back net with his driver.
